Project: Touch Screen HMI for Thermal Cycler

Objective:

Create a Human Machine Interface (HMI) that can be used to monitor and control a thermal cycler through a touch screen panel.

Results:

The Nexus Innovations team planned, developed, installed and implemented the HMI. The HMI was run from a touch panel PC and built as a dynamic HTML page. The HMI communicated to the hardware through a web services API and a PLC to keep information updated for the user with some data points updating every second.

Project Name: Online Teacher Licensure and School Accreditation

Objective:

The two main objectives of the project were to switch the current educator qualification application process from a paper based system to an online system, as well as to switch the processing of teacher and school approval and accreditation rules from a manual paper based process to an automated process that flags schools or teachers not meeting state requirements. 

Results:

The Nexus Innovations team analyzed, designed and developed an online teacher licensure/credential application system in which teachers can apply for and renew licenses, certificates and credentials online. The application manages all school approval and accreditation rules and flags. Enhancements included reporting systems based on educator data and online public lookup to review educator qualifications.

The technologies utilized in this project include .Net 3.5, ASP.NET, LINQ-to-SQL, MS SQL 2008, SQL Reporting Services 2005, VB.NET, Visual Studio 2008 and WCF.

Project Name: County Government Online Tax Application

Objective:

A county government wanted to leverage their web site by providing property tax look-up capabilities along with the option to pay those taxes online.

Results:

The Nexus Innovations team analyzed, designed and developed an online tax application to allow residents of a county government to view and pay their property taxes via the county website. In addition, SharePoint was later updated to SP 2010.

Technology:

The technologies utilized in this project include .Net 3.5, jQuery, MS SQL 2008, SharePoint 2007, SharePoint 2010 and WCF.

Project Name: Child Support Calculator

Objective:

Develop a software solution for the client that allows for an online child support calculator that can be easily maintained as the formulas and guidelines change in the future.

Results:

The statewide users of the calculator are now able to quickly and accurately determine the amount of support that can be anticipated. Nexus Innovations created the software solution using .NET and developed the necessary documentation and training to allow the client to keep the system up to date. Nexus utilized SQL Data Transformation Services (DTS) to input the current tables and schedules using the available file formats for both tables. These SQL DTS packages as well as the file format of the tables used were provided to the client for use in future updates.

Technology:

The technologies utilized in this project include Visual Studio, ASP.Net, VB.Net and SQL Server 2000.

Project Name: Electronic Fingerprint Submittal

Objective:

Develop a desktop application for acquiring scanned fingerprint images and data for submittal to the FBI.

Results:

Nexus Innovations developed an application that collected the required information, utilized a third party vendor API product for capturing and compressing scanned images and generating the binary files required for submission to the FBI. Multithreading was used to perform asynchronous image scanning and .NET GDI was used to allow users to crop and edit scanned images. The software integrated with existing web services used to implement security and as a source of common lookup codes. In addition, a Windows service was developed to listen for and process responses received from the FBI.

Technology:

The technologies utilized in this project include VB.NET, SQL Server, third party vendor API for FBI certified image scanning and compression and Gordano Messaging Server.

Project Name: Grant Management Application

Objective:

Develop a software solution that allows the client to gather data from various departments, partners and contractors in order to provide faster, more accurate and efficient means of fulfilling grant reporting/tracking activities.

Results:

Nexus Innovations developed a web-based application that allowed the client to have control over the creation and maintenance of programs, users and security of their information. This application was also designed to allow for the electronic collection of grant information from various areas and produce necessary reports in an efficient, accurate and secure manner.

Technology:

The technologies utilized in this project include ASP.Net , Visual Basic .Net, Windows Server and SQL Server.

Project Name: Construction Job Management System

Objective:

Plan, design, install and implement a web application to replace the current job management system that used Excel spreadsheets.

Results:

Nexus Innovations analyzed, designed, and developed an online job management system to track job specific information including estimates, jobs, change orders and supplies.  The system interfaces with the organizations financial system for a full view of the job details.

Technology:

The technologies utilized in this project include .Net 3.5, ASP.NET, MS SQL 2008, jQuery, java script, VB.NET and Visual Studio 2008.

Project Name: Emergency Point of Distribution Mobile Application

Objective:

Plan, design, install and implement an Android application for the purpose of tracking emergency medical supplies distributed during an emergency.

Results:

Nexus Innovations analyzed, designed and developed a native Android for distribution of medical supplies in the event of emergency situations.

Technology:

The technologies utilized in this project include Java, Android Development Toolkit, Eclipse and Maven.

Project Name: Volunteer Registration System

Objective:

Plan, design, install and implement a system for volunteers to register in the case of emergency situations where volunteers are required.  The medical volunteers are required to be credentialed and verified as medical professionals in order to be available as medical volunteers.

Results:

Nexus Innovations analyzed, designed, and developed a web application for the administration of the volunteers, which includes verification and credentialing of the volunteers.  The web application interfaces with a third party event registration provider for the volunteer registration and the emergency events.

Technology:

The technologies utilized in this project include .Net 4.5, ASP.NET MVC 4.0, MS SQL 2008 R2, C#.NET, Visual Studio 2

Project Name: State Agency Intranet Implementation

Objective:

To replace an outdated intranet with SharePoint 2010 for a state agency employing 350 people.

Results:

The Nexus Innovations team led a cross-functional team of the client’s thought leaders through a thorough envisioning / planning process, which prepared the organization for the cultural and technological changes inherent in a full-scale intranet replacement.  The end result delivered a user-empowering intranet that allows content and communication to be driven by users and departments. The new site structure gives users the flexibility to push news out to those who may be interested, subscribe to news they want to read, manage department pages, manage their own personal site and collaborate on documents. The governance defined before the rollout prepared the agency for success based on the structure and definition on how the intranet will grow and expand.

Utilizing the intranet as a foundation, the platform’s built-in ties to Active Directory, and a third party workflow solution, the project expanded into a process automation project.  The Nexus team worked side-by-side with the customer to define and improve processes, capture data, and automate the workflows involved in business processes such as Employee On-boarding/Off-boarding, Service Requests, Travel Requests, and Internal Claims Management.

Technology:

The technologies utilized in this project included InfoPath Forms Services, InfoPath 2010, MS SQL 2008, SharePoint 2010, Nintex Workflow for SharePoint and SharePoint Designer 2010.

Project Name: State College Intranet and Reporting Portal

Objective:

Develop an intranet portal for employees, staff, and faculty to share and collaborate information across the campus.

Results:

The Nexus Innovations team and a cross-functional team of leaders at the customer developed an intranet portal based on Microsoft SharePoint Enterprise 2010, complete with a comprehensive governance, communication, training, and support plan. Leveraging the intranet platform and integrated reporting tools, the Nexus team mentored and assisted customer staff in the identification, architecting, cleansing, migration, and reporting of key business data. Employees are now able to share information, documents, and news, view up-to-date student enrollment statistics, and be connected from on or off campus.

Technology:

The technologies utilized in this project include Microsoft SharePoint Enterprise 2010, SQL Reporting Services and SQL Server Integration Services.

Project Name: Heavy Equipment Dealership Intranet Implementation

Objective:

Plan, design, and implement an intranet portal for employees of a heavy equipment dealership with over 1000 users in 16 locations spanning 3 states.

Results:

The Nexus Innovations team led a cross-functional team of thought leaders at the customer through an envisioning / planning workshop, followed by the technical installation of an intranet site based on SharePoint Standard 2010.  The Nexus team then mentored, trained, and supported customer internal resources as they architected, designed, branded, and implemented an intranet that allows content and communication to be managed and maintained by users and departments. The new site structure gives users the flexibility to push news out to those who may be interested, subscribe to news they want to read, manage department pages, manage their own personal site, integrate with line-of-business data, automate business processes and collaborate on documents.
Over a year after go-live, Nexus resources continue to mentor and provide strategic guidance to the customer’s internal resources, supporting the development and growth of their intranet.

Project Name: Regional Bank Intranet Technical Implementation and Strategic Guidance

Objective:

Plan, design, install, and provide strategic guidance to a regional bank with over 1000 users and 19 branch locations spanning 2 states.

Results:

The Nexus Innovations team worked side-by-side with internal resources to form a cross-functional strategy team, define governance, communication, training, and support plans, install, implement, and eventually upgrade a SharePoint platform, and design and develop an intranet platform.  Nexus resources continue to provide ongoing strategic guidance, knowledge transfer, system technical support and development support to the organization, accelerating their evolution and adoption of the new intranet.

The technologies utilized in this project include Microsoft SharePoint Standard 2010/2013, SQL Reporting Services and Nintex Workflow for SharePoint.

Project Name: Business Process Improvement and Automation

Objective:

To electronically streamline current business processes for a state government agency.

Results:

The Nexus Innovations team worked side by side with the customer to define processes, identify areas for process improvement, and design and develop electronic forms and workflows. The automated processes included timesheet, purchase orders, log sheets, and a capital expenditure request process. All projects required the use of custom forms, workflow and workflow re-engineering.

The technologies utilized in this project include CRM, InfoPath Forms Services, InfoPath 2010, MS SQL 2008 R2, SharePoint 2010, Nintex Workflow for SharePoint, SharePoint Designer 2010, SQL Reporting Services 2008 R2 and VB.NET.
